Third Grade

The Third Grade team seeks to establish a caring community of lifelong learners striving for excellence. We dedicate ourselves to a nurturing environment where young people are excited about learning.

Third Grade Curriculum

Third graders are taught the Sunshine State Standards in all subject areas: reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies.

Reading/Language Arts:

Use comprehension reading strategies to make connections from text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world.

Use Imagine It reading series to teach how to decode words and comprehend text.

Use Write from the Beginning to teach paragraph writing, drafting, revising, and publishing.

Use adding and subtracting whole numbers, linear measures and area, multiplication and division, place value in whole numbers and decimals, geometry, fractions, measurement and data, and probability to solve real world problems.

Study life science, earth science, physical science, and space and technology. Expose children to meaningful and valuable science experiments.
