K-5 Lake Como Physical Education

Course Description:   Physical Education is a rigorous program that enables students to successfully prepare for a healthier style of living. The purpose of Physical Education is to make the student aware of fitness and how valuable it is in their daily lives.

 

Course Goals

  • Develop and implement effective exercise habits.
  • Examine their life in order to establish and reach short and long-term goals.
  • Students will engage and succeed in a rigorous course of health and nutrition.
  • Learn how health and nutrition plays a vital role in their learning and success.
  • Engage in physical fitness activities and learn skills necessary to play and compete in most sports.

6-8 Lake Como Physical Education

Course Description:   Physical Education is a rigorous elective program that enables students to successfully prepare for a healthier style of living. The purpose of Physical Education is to make the student aware of fitness and how valuable it is in their daily lives. The goal of Physical Education is to equip students with study, research, communication skills and exercise necessary for them to maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout their life.  The students will learn the value of good health and nutrition and the effect it has on learning.  Students will also learn skills and rules necessary for physical education activities and sports.

 

Dressing Out:  All middle school students are required to dress out for PE.  This means they cannot wear the clothes they wore to school to PE.  They must have on proper shoes, sneakers or similar rubber bottom shoes protecting the feet.  Sandals are not allowed.

 

Instructional Philosophy:  The Physical Education class is composed of several different elements, making students more successful and healthier in their everyday routine.  Students will learn proper safety practices and techniques.  Students will demonstrate responsible behaviors, respect, fair play and good sportsmanship for all activities in Physical Education.

 

Course Goals:  The goal of the Lake Como PE elective is to prepare our students to succeed in middle school and lead a healthier life.

Distribution of Grading Components:  Grades are determined by dividing the points earned by the total number of points available in the grading period.  Each project and assignment commands a total percentage of the total points as follows:

Intellectual Integrity:  Cheating (academic dishonesty, plagiarism, copying, etc.) in any form will not be tolerated!  Any student caught cheating will not receive credit for the work and will be subject to disciplinary action according to South Creek Middle School and OCPS policies.

How to be successful in the PE:

  • Be on time!Class begins when the bell rings.
  • Have appropriate supplies for class everyday (laptops, assignments, clothes and sneakers for PE.)
  • Follow classroom rules and procedures.
  • Turn in all assignments on time.
  • If you are absent, make up your assignments in a timely manner.
  • Participate in class and pay attention.
